Replacement Medication May Not Be The Solution

Friday, August 13th, 2010

When dealing with an alcohol addiction some people sometimes resort to drugs like Antabuse. This medication makes the person physically sick if they consume alcohol within up to a week of taking antabuse. While this may seem like the miracle drug for sobriety, most have found that this is just not the case.

People resort to drugs and alcohol because they have some problem in life that they cannot handle. Drugs and alcohol are a solution for that problem. When someone relies on drugs like antabuse they quickly realize that their problems are still there. So, while they may not be drinking, they are still not happy.

It is vital to realize that just because someone cannot drink does not mean that they do not want to drink, or are not constantly thinking about drinking.

The only real way to handle an alcohol addiction, or any other addiction is to enroll in an effective drug rehab. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for an alcohol addiction please call a drug and alcohol counselor immediately.

Alarming Teen Alcohol Abuse Statistics

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

We are often inudated with facts regarding alcohol abuse. The dangers of underage drinking, and the results that come of it. What we fail to realize is that the facts need to be a catalyst to something more. It is not good enough that someone just listens to the statistics, something has to be done to handle an alcohol abuse problem and that solution is an effective drug and alcohol rehab.

According to the Marin Institute;

Alcohol is a leading cause of death among youth, particularly teenagers.

Every day, on average, 11,318 American youth (12 to 20 years of age) try alcohol for the first time.

Alcohol is by far the most used and abused drug among America’s teenagers. According to a national survey, nearly one third of all high school students reported hazardous drinking during the 30 days prior to the survey.

Children who are drinking alcohol by the 7th grade are more likely to report academic problems, substance abuse, and delinquent behavior in both middle school and high school. By young adulthood, early alcohol use was associated with employment problems, other substance abuse, and criminal and other violent behavior.

Young people who begin drinking before age 15 are four times more likely to develop alcoholism than those who begin drinking at 21.

More than 1,700 college students in the U.S. are killed each year – about 4.65 a day – as a result of alcohol-related injuries.

Lindsey Lohan In Need of Help For Alcohol Addiction

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

It is clear to anyone that reads about Lindsey Lohan that she is in serious need of help for her alcohol addiction. However, this week her SCRAM bracelet went off, indicating that she had consumed alcohol. This goes directly against the judge’s order to abstain from all alcohol. Perhaps the biggest indication that Lindsey has an alcohol problem is that she continuously puts herself in positions where alcohol is available. She cannot stay away.

For people that are addicted to alcohol they are being sent a very wrong message, that drinking is ok and that it is easily explained away. This is extremely far from the truth. Alcohol is actually one of the most dangerous drugs a person can get addicted to. Along with methadone and benzos addiction(Xanax, Valium and Klonipin) the withdrawals from alcohol are the most life threatening.

Some of the withdrawals from alcohol include seizures, shaking, hallucinations, high blood pressure, insomnia, anger and depression. Often times a person has to be hospitalized to ensure that they will safely come off the alcohol.

The only real way to handle an alcohol addiction is to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehab. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a substance abuse problem please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

Alcohol Abuse Among Mothers Is On The Rise

Friday, May 28th, 2010

We are used to hearing about teens drinking too much, we are used to hearing about men becoming alcoholics, however we are not that used to hearing about alcoholic mothers. Well, unfortunately the amount of mothers who admit to having a problem with alcohol is on the rise.

This alarming new trend shows that anyone can fall into the grips of an alcohol addiction. These mothers, especially stay-at-home mothers, are driving their kids while drunk, going to PTA meetings while drunk and taking care of the household while drunk. Only a few years ago one mother drove the wrong way on the highway, killing her daughter, her nieces and several other people, she was drunk driving.

The only real way to handle an alcohol addiction is to enroll in a drug rehab. One drug rehab in particular is known for helping alcoholics maintain sobriety with their unique approach to addiction.

Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problem drugs and alcohol were a solution for. Once that problem is isolated and handled alcohol no longer becomes necessary.

So, whether more mothers are drinking because of the stress of raising a household, or because they are trying to solve some other problem, the only right thing to do is get help immediately. Call 866-422-4650 for more information.

Drunk Driving On The Rise – Citizens Help Authorities

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

South Dakota is just one state reporting the rise of DUI related incidents and arrests, however there are many more states in the country who are witnessing the same epidemic.

Despite countless efforts by law enforcements and social betterment groups, people are still getting behind the wheel after having too much to drink. However, some authorities are beginning to thank the sober citizens, saying that the amount of tips called in a night usually average three.

While authorities do not recommend that citizens follow too closely or chase the suspected drunk drivers it is vital to report any suspicions to the local law enforcement immediately. While drunk drivers can be apprehended, perhaps the biggest concern is how many of these people are suffering from an alcohol addiction.

Despite popular belief, an addiction to alcohol is one of the most threatening and common addictions that people face. In fact, some people are not even aware they are addicted to alcohol in the first place. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for an alcohol addiction please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.
