Synthetic Alcohol Allows Alcoholism To Go Unhandled

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Scientists in England are developing a new, synthetic type of alcohol that will allow a person to get drunk, but not get hung over. While people are suffering from cancer, AIDS, and other terrifying deadly diseases, scientists are focusing on the best way to get a good buzz. Alcoholism is a behavior employed by the individual to make life easier. Instead of focusing our energy on creating a better drunk, people need to focus on a drug rehab program that works.

The synthetic alcohol is designed to allow a person to be “pleasantly drunk” without the ramifications of a hang over. In addition to promoting drinking without the fear of a hang over, this synthetic alcohol is accompanied by a pill that once ingested the person no longer feels drunk. Promoting this type of consumption will only lead users down a dangerous path, where being drunk no longer has any obvious consequences. While this synthetic alcohol seems harmless it does not address one major problem – alcoholism.

A person that is addicted to alcohol is consumed with the idea of drinking and drinks excessive amounts. Most times the only reprieve alcoholics experience is when the negative consequences of drinking force them to stop for a period of time. This can include but is not limited to: health problems, legal problems, and familial problems. The biggest threat that synthetic alcohol places is that it eliminates all negative consequences of drinking to excess, and in fact promotes it.

Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility located just outside of Baton Rouge. This secluded retreat allows clients to handle their addiction in a calm, peaceful atmosphere. In a field where the average success rate is between 12-20%  Narconon Louisiana far surpasses that with a 76% success rate for permanent recovery. Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead counselors work on e on one with a client locating and isolating what problems drugs and alcohol was a solution to. Once this problem is isolated and handled, clients are then able to live their life without the crippling effects of their past.

In addition to handling the underlying problems that cause addiction, clients conquer one of the biggest causes of relapse – cravings. Cravings, and their iron-clad grip on addicts, prevent the individual from ever really moving on from the substance. Upon entering into the program, clients are enrolled in the New Life Detoxification program. This is a method developed by author and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard which allows the body to get rid of drug and alcohol residue. When a person ingests drugs or alcohol the metabolites stick to the fatty tissue in the body. Despite long periods of abstinence, users will ntice that ever-present cravings prevent them from even fully handling their addiction.

Alcoholism does not have to go unhandled, or covered up. Synthetic alcohol is not the answer for an alcoholic, in fact it will probably make their addiction worse. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Allowing Alcoholics To Side Step Rehabilitation Is Dangerous

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

A Massachusetts senator is being placed on house arrest because he cannot pass alcohol tests administered by the court.

Senator Anthony Galluccio’s troubles began last week when he fled the scene after inflicting injuries to a father and his 13 year old son. Originally, in an attempt to handle the damage caused by alcohol abuse, the courts ordered that he take breathalyzer tests from his home. Those tests were transmitting the results back to the courts.

When the tests came up positive for a small amount of alcohol the court decided to re-evaluate their ruling. Mr. Galluccio is now being placed under house arrest. Although Mr. Galluccio claims that the alcohol was from toothpaste, he is still required to stay in his home and is unable to attend Senate meetings.

Unfortunately the courts missed a great opportunity. Instead of attempting to curb the amount of alcohol related crimes that are committed on a regular basis, they allowed the offender to go about his daily activities. Drug and alcohol rehabilitation should have been the requirement for such a dangerous crime. While the world watches, the courts allowed someone who is abusing alcohol, get off easy.

Drinking In The Public Eye Illustrates The Need For Rehabilitation

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

The St. Louis Cardinals are no strangers to the local police. In fact in the past three years they have had four alcohol-related arrests, including one death. Rehabilitation for alcohol would have allowed this team, and thousands of other offenders to prevent these tragedies from occurring. Alcohol abuse and it’s related crimes affect thousands of people every day. Rehabilitation and education is the only way to ultimately handle the crippling addiction. Narconon Louisiana is one such facility that focuses on alcohol addiction, and how to eliminate it from our society.

Most recently the third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, David Freese, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The team’s bad luck streak began in 2007 when manager Tony La Russa was arrested in Florida for driving under the influence. Later, relief pitcher Josh Hancock, was killed when he crashed his sports utility vehicle into a parked tow truck. Scott Spiezio was released from the team after new reports surfaced of his 2007 hit and run. This is a team that needs to focus on the health and well-being of it’s players. Although David Freese insists that he does not have a problem with alcohol, this is the second arrest for alcohol related crimes that he has received. The Cardinals management is not requiring rehabilitation, although it is clear that that’s what is needed.

Rehabilitation for alcohol is possible. Although many people focus on the 12-step model of rehabilitation, there is another, more effective way to live a life without alcohol and it’s resulting effects. Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility located just outside of Baton Rouge. Focused on handling the addict’s life, Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead clients work with a counselor one on one to find out what problems drugs and alcohol was a solution for.

In addition to handling the underlying problems that cause a person to resort to alcohol, Narconon Louisiana employs a unique sauna detoxification program that eliminates cravings. Cravings are what cause an individual to continually go back to alcohol even with several months clean time. When an individual ingests a drug or alcohol, the metabolites stick to the fat tissues in the body. These metabolites stay in the body for months, sometimes years, re-releasing into the bloodstream and causing cravings. In the case of David Freese, had he enrolled in a rehabilitation program like Narconon, handling why he needed to drink, and the cravings that undoubtedly experiences, he probably wouldn’t have been arrested this weekend.

The Most Effective Solution For Alcohol Addiction

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Celebrities like Lindsey Lohan wore one, and if you go before the court for an alcohol related crime, you may be wearing one too. Alcohol monitoring bracelets are taking the place of breathalyzers, especially during the holiday season when individuals are more likely to get carried away abusing the substance. But, although this can prevent offenders from drinking, it does not replace drug treatment centers which are more effective for handling alcoholism permanently.

According to recent statistics over 100,000 people have worn alcohol monitoring bracelets since they came into use in 2003 and there are about 10,000 bracelets in use currently. The cost for them is between $1,500.00 and $10,000.00 dollars per person and the bracelets are most often used during the holiday season as this can be one of the busiest times for the courts in regards to alcohol related offenses such as driving under the influence.

But despite reports that the bracelet can temporarily curb drinking, they are a substitute for drug treatment because they do not allow the addict to handle the underlying reasons why they started abusing alcohol in the first place, but instead they force the addict to abstain from alcohol for only the time sentenced.

“The alcohol monitoring bracelet makes sense because as the negative consequences of alcohol abuse increases, the courts are looking for a new way to stop offenders from drinking,” explains Jeff Lukas, Executive Director of Narconon Louisiana. “But an addict will experience that there are barriers addressed through successful treatment. At Narconon we see a lot of clients with alcohol problems that have tried other methods to stop drinking but until the underlying issues are really handled, things like alcohol monitoring bracelets merely act as a temporary deterrent.”

The Narconon drug rehab program is a long-term, inpatient facility that specializes on helping an addict regain control of his or her life. During the holiday season they are no stranger to the increased amount of calls from families asking for help for their family members. But Narconon has put a unique rehabilitation program in place that specializes in a ll types of drug and alcohol addictions and achieves a more than 75% success rate for permanent recovery.

Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, they focus on why a person started using alcohol in the first place, the problem that alcohol was a solution for. In addition to finding out the underlying issue to addiction, Narconon Louisiana employ a unique sauna detoxification program. Addicts undergo light exercise as well as sessions in a dry heat sauna, allowing their bodies to be cleared free of all drug and alcohol residues. These residues are often times the catalyst for cravings, which then lead to relapse. The residential treatment facility has been helping clients in and out of the state for over three years.

Alcoholism does not have to go unhandled. Effective treatment is available at Narconon Louisiana. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please contact 866-422-4650.
