Alcohol Being Marketed for Children?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

These days most teenagers will admit that they drink with their friends on the weekends or at parties. Alcohol companies are well aware of this fact and have begun a campaign geared towards underage drinkers.

Alcopops (alcoholic lollipops) and energy drinks with alcohol have found a market with underage teens, usually girls. This way of consuming alcohol is appealing to younger people because they cannot taste the alcohol. If you notice, most people in bars are not sucking on alcopops or drinking Sparks, because it’s not the crowd for that.

Alcohol abuse among children is quite common, most of them are binge drinkers (five or more drinks in one night). In order to really handle an alcohol addiction people need to enroll in a drug rehab program. Please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

Charlie Sheen Enters Rehab For Alcohol Addiction

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Charlie Sheen entered rehab today as a “preventative measure” for alcohol abuse. This is not the first time the actor has admitted himself into a rehab, but this time it’s shortly after his wife began treatment for her own drug addiction.

Alcohol addiction has the ability to destroy a person’s body in a number of ways. Alcoholics can experience a wide range of symptoms like dizziness, nausea and vomiting, cardiovascular disease, chronic pancreatitis, liver disease and wet brain (confusion, loss of short term memory).

When an alcoholic stops drinking they can experience a wide range of withdrawal symptoms like seizures, delirium tremens (an acute episode of delirium), visual hallucinations and anxiety. One of the most alarming thing about an alcohol addiction is that the withdrawals can be fatal.

Like Charlie Sheen, the only safe way to come off of alcohol is to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehab. Call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

Hollywood Loses Another Celebrity To Alcohol

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Brooke Mueller, wife of Charlie Sheen has entered into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, reportedly for an alcohol addiction. There are also reports circulating that the actress is addicted to crack as well.

Celebrities have always been in the news for some addiction, however with shows like Celebrity rehab, addiction is almost starting to become normal. People are starting to lose sight that these celebrities are dying, that their once promising careers have taken a back seat to alcohol and other drugs.

One such rehabilitation facility has helped hundreds of people recover from their addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Narconon Louisiana is a non-profit, alcohol and drug rehab that does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead clients work one on one with a counselor to identify what problems drugs and alcohol were a solution for. In the case of Brook Mueller, counselors would help figure out why alcohol and crack continue to be problems for her. They would help her spot when her life started to become unmanageable.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help for drug or alcohol abuse please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Alcohol PD Under Scrutiny After Several Alcohol Related Incidents

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

The Chicago PD came under the microscope after several alcohol related incidents occurred. In 2006, Anthony Abbate, an officer who was off duty, was caught on tape beating a female bartender. In 2009, two officers who had been drinking were involved in fatal car accidents.

Officer Richard Bolling was charged with reckless homicide after he hit and killed 13 year old Trenton Booker while the child was riding his bike. Officer Bolling was given a breathalyzer four hours after the accident and blew a .079.

In April, 2009 Detective Joseph Frugoli was charged with reckless homicide and DUI in a crash that killed two men on the Dan Ryan Expy.

Due to these very public offenses, the city of Chicago has made some changes regarding alcohol in the police stations. Officers will be subjected to random breathalyzers. If they come up positive for alcohol they will be given a chance to enroll an alcohol rehab.

One such rehab that specializes in helping people break free from the bonds of alcohol and drug addiction is Narconon Louisiana. Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility that focuses on allowing an individual to live their life free from the iron clad grips of addiction.
